A song about people who've been uprooted, who've lost their home(land), who've lost those they love. Interesting topic that usually makes for the most touching, most emotional songs.
It's also interesting how "mata" in "Asteromata" translates to "eye", because it's not the only language this happens in - "mata" also means eye in Bahasa Melayu (funnily enough, "mata mata" is slang for the police in Singapore/Malaysia) and Te reo Māori as well - though for the last two, it's because they're part of the Austronesian language family. Supposedly, mata/mati in Greek came about independently of the other two languages.
The lyrics are so poetic and heartachingly sad. There's a lot of imagery here that works in its favour.
My faded body is not / defeated by the flames / The swallows of fire / even if they cross the seas / they never forget / the soil of their roots
That's just the first verse, and it's already so powerful. A homeland burning, a people on fire; they're forced to leave but will forever remember their past.
My little Starry Eyed Girl / turn so I can kiss you / so I can extinguish my lips / in your holy tears / My little Starry Eyed Girl / turn to me so I can catch you / and rest my / forgotten wings
There is that sense of longing, that sense of desperate desire for reunion, for returning home one day. It's beautiful.

COMPOSITION - Total: 15/20 (75%)
Melody/Bass: 4.5/5
Instrumentation: 4/5
Development: 3/5
Coherence: 3.5/5
To me, the beauty of the melody in Asteromata is carried by Klavdia's heartfelt cry in the postchorus. Despite not carrying a single word, it gives power and purpose to the rest of the lyrics; it releases the tension in the melody; it ties everything together.
Instrumentation was okay. I liked the flute, and the arpeggiated chords really gave the feeling of the ground rolling and undulating beneath my feet. The way it ends, with the stars and sparkling sounds, was very nice. Chorus was beautiful.
Hopefully, after her flight from her homeland and the subsequent voyage through the stormy seas, she's now in a place where she can lie back and look at the stars in peace.
It felt like I was transported to a different world for a while, and when the music ended, it definitely didn't feel like 3 minutes had gone by. The song has a great pace and great energy and I like it.

Great performance. You can feel Klavdia's heart through her voice, and she was pretty much pitch perfect. The only reason why I can't give her a 19 or a 20 is because I compare this to something like Portugal 2024 (Grito) and IMO her voice didn't really carry that wow quality that just grabs you by the shoulders and shakes you until you're wide awake.

STAGING - Total: 22.5/25 (90%)
The Show: 8.5/10
The Story: 9/10
Outfits: 5/5
The staging was used pretty effectively in this performance. I liked it. It told the story of the song pretty well.
It starts with Klavdia on a jetty/bridge over the sea, lightning flashing in the background - then everything burns and a firestorm rages down from the heavens, forcing her to leave her life behind - the swallows on/of fire, the great tree blazing, her having to say goodbye to her past/loved ones. Then the sea enters - Klavdia sandwiched by fire chasing her away from her home, and the stormy, choppy open seas ahead even as fire continues to rain.
At the end of the song, the stage calms and the heavens open onto a vision of the stars and Klavdia's new, white ("untainted") dress - presumably signifying the hope of a better future yet looking back on memories of the past in a bid to stay connected to her own story.
The great kings of the past look down on us from those stars. [...] So whenever you feel alone, just remember that those kings will always be there to guide you.
- Mufasa, The Lion King
I do wish the sea wasn't so static, but I suppose it's because they didn't want to distract the audience from Klavdia because there's already a lot going on.

I enjoyed this, but the staging really elevated it for me.
